10 Old-School Tag Teams Featuring Legendary Wrestlers You Didn't Know About
Mia Smith When it comes to legends in professional wrestling, they are typically remembered for their singles work, and it makes sense. For example, fans remember John Cena's incredible WrestleMania matches and championship wins, not his brief tag team title run with David Otunga.

However, that's the case for a lot of wrestling legends. Throughout the long and rich history of professional wrestling, there have been many names that have been a part of a stable that's been forgotten. These ten old-school tag teams had a legendary name attached to them, but most fans would be shocked to learn that they ever even existed.
10 Andre The Giant & Dusty Rhodes
Andre the Giant and Dusty Rhodes aren't a team that is widely remembered today but were a great fit. Obviously, the giant was the stronger of the two and was a wrecking ball in the ring. Meanwhile, Rhodes was at the peak of his powers in the 80s, especially on the mic.
These two won a few versions of the NWA tag team titles, but their team was short-lived. In the early 80s, Andre the Giant was signed by the WWE, ending his time with Rhodes.
9 Bob Backlund & Pedro Morales
It was 'Bob Two Belts' for one night in August 1980. Already the reigning WWE champion, he teamed with fellow icon Pedro Morales to face The Wild Samoans at Showdown at Shea. Unsurprisingly, Backlund got the win.
However, this team and tag team title reign was short-lived. Bob Backlund and Morales were forced to vacate the tag titles due to WWE's rule at the time that no wrestler could hold two championships at the same time.
8 The Undertaker & The Rock
The Undertaker and The Rock were feuding for a shot at the WWE Title in 2000. In the midst of their feud, they got a tag team title shot against Edge and Christian. Despite their hatred for one another, Rock and Undertaker got the win.

Ultimately, this team was forgotten due to just how little time they spent together. The Rock and The Undertaker lost the titles back to Edge and Christian the following week and resumed their singles careers.
7 Roddy Piper & Ric Flair
Roddy Piper and Ric Flair were both looking to close down their careers in 2006. Leading into that year's Cyber Sunday, the Nature Boy was feuding with The Spirit Squad over the tag titles. That night, fans picked Piper to be Flair's tag partner.
Ultimately, this team was short-lived as well, as they lost the titles to Rated RKO later that month. Following that defeat, Piper left the WWE once again, and Flair would retire less than two years later. Well, for the first time anyway.
6 Terry Funk & 2 Cold Scorpio
Terry Funk returned to the WWE in 1997, just days after his retirement. Well, one of his retirements! While he had a couple of high-profile matches early into his stint, he was eventually relegated to the tag team division. In 1998, he began teaming with 2 Cold Scorpio.
Many fans likely don't remember this pairing, as they were only together for a few months. That being said, it still remains one of the most unique tag teams from a talent perspective.
5 The Diamond Exchange
The Diamond Exchange had a few different iterations over the years. The WCW stable first came around in 1988 and featured Diamond Dallas Page, Curt Hennig, and others. However, their 1991 version was even more stacked.
That stable featured future stars, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and even Raven. Despite the immense talent that has been in The Diamond Exchange it's surprising that they've been so forgotten.
4 The Skyscrapers
The Skyscrapers were a WCW tag team that were put together mainly due to their height. 'Dangerous' Dan Spivey, 'Big' Sid Vicious, and 'Mean' Mark Callous were all put together in a stable and managed by Teddy Long.
Ultimately, this group only lasted from 1989 to 1990 due to Callous, as well as Sid, later leaving the WCW. That turned out to be a great decision, as they went on to win world titles in the WWE.
3 Triple H & William Regal
In WCW, Triple H and William Regal were both talented men without much to do. As a result, in 1994, the two were paired together, mainly due to the fact that they had similar looks and gimmicks. This is where Triple H and Regal first began their lifelong friendship.

However, their tag team days were brief. Unhappy in WCW, Triple H left for the WWE in 1995, where he would become a legend. Just a few short years later, Regal would follow.
2 Mr. Fuji & Professor Tanaka
It's a shame that Mr. Fuji has had a lot of his wrestling career seemingly lost to history. While everyone remembers him managing the likes of Yokozuna and others, he was also an excellent tag team specialist. Arguably his greatest work was with Professor Tanaka.
The two were perfect foreign heels in WWE during the 70s. While this team has largely been forgotten over the years, they had great chemistry, which isn't surprising. Fuji and Tanaka were friends for years before they even got into wrestling.
1 Colossal Connection
Colossal Connection was a tag team formed in 1989 mainly to hide Andre the Giant's age and health issues. So, they paired him with the much younger, but still as scary, Haku. While a brief team, these two did have a run with the WWE tag team gold.
However, they disbanded the following year as Andre began preparing for his retirement from professional wrestling. In 1991, he left the WWE, only wrestling a few more matches before his tragic 1993 passing.
