The wrestling war between AEW and WWE extends mostly to fans who love to debate online. Wrestlers in both promotions hope to have the stronger product, but there are quite a few friendships behind the scenes. Photos have surfaced between the talents in both companies enjoying each other’s company. The time away from the ring makes it easier for the wrestlers to keep up with each other when not working together. Each of the following pairs show that there is a lot of love between WWE and AEW talents.

10 Britt Baker & Candice LeRae

The recent end to Johnny Gargano’s time in NXT featured AEW star Britt Baker showing love to him. Both Gargano and his wife Candice LeRae were among the more respected wrestlers helping her when training at the AIW wrestling school in Cleveland.

The photo here shows NXT star Candice and AEW star Britt spending time together years before they reached their current spots. Baker becoming such a huge star for AEW sees her showing love to those that helped her in the early years, especially LeRae.

9 Adam Cole & Kevin Owens

The background of Kevin Owens and Adam Cole saw them working together for many years before either joined WWE, as they were even in a faction together. Their friendship remained intact throughout each the respective careers and steps they took.

Owens was still spending time with Cole when he was in WWE and Cole still worked for Ring of Honor. This short-lived social media picture was quite popular of Owens having the Universal Championship and Cole having the ROH World Championship when hanging out. They deleted the picture, but it still exists on the internet today.

8 Jake Hager & R-Truth

One of the more random friendships between wrestlers in different companies is Jake Hager and R-Truth. The former WWE stint of Jack Swagger saw him becoming buddies with R-Truth at some point in their history together.

Hager had R-Truth rap him to the MMA ring with a live performance during one of his Bellator fights. This likely won’t happen now that Hager is in AEW, but he was able to get his friend to take part in the MMA side of his career.

7 Sami Zayn & The Young Bucks

The Young Bucks’ time on the independent circuit sees them tight with top stars in just about every promotion today. Sami Zayn was one of their first friends when they used to consider themselves part of the “scrub room” in Ring of Honor.

The photo here is from Zayn’s background appearance on Being the Elite. Zayn was in WWE at the time, but he wanted to spend time with the Young Bucks when they were in the same area. Matt and Nick Jackson were in ROH at the time, but Sami, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles all appeared in their vlog.

6 Kenny Omega & Xavier Woods

The bond of video games saw Kenny Omega and Xavier Woods forming a friendship in different companies. Omega befriended Woods during his time in New Japan even though they never worked together.

The friendship led to them working together on a few video game projects and even joking on social media about a potential New Day vs The Elite match. Woods and Omega still praise each other and hope to continue doing things together even while in rival companies.

5 Edge & Christian

The closest friends to work for WWE and AEW may be Edge and Christian going back to their childhood time. Edge and Christian met as teenagers and developed a friendship based on their mutual desire to become future wrestlers.

The photo shows them spending time together relatively recently. It may have been before the Royal Rumble 2021 event where Christian returned to the ring for the first time. Christian leaving WWE for AEW ended the chances of them having another tag run or feud unless one jumps ship at some point.

4 Cesaro & Adam Cole

The WWE UpUpDownDown YouTube channel saw Adam Cole, Cesaro, Tyler Breeze and Xavier Woods forming a lifelong friendship as Da Party. All four wrestlers worked together to film content for the channel as their bond grew organically.

Cole leaving WWE saw the biggest con coming when losing the chance to continue being on the channel. Cesaro and Cole are shown here doing the Left Right Left Right pose of the video game team they were on when feuding with Woods shortly before Cole left WWE.

3 Tommaso Ciampa & Chuck Taylor

Johnny Gargano’s free agent status is quite interesting since he has friends in all the major promotions. The wedding of Gargano and Candice LeRae saw noteworthy names from all over the industry attending to see their friends tie the knot.

AEW star Chuck Taylor and NXT’s Tommaso Ciampa were two of the wrestlers to be part of Gargano’s groomsmen. WWE commentator Vic Joseph is also there as Gargano’s bond with him is also tight. Many AEW fans want to see Gargano join Taylor’s Best Friends faction if he does sign.

2 Finn Balor & Pac

The friendship between Finn Balor and Pac started long before either man joined WWE or AEW. Both wrestlers were international breakout stars traveling the globe before “making it” in the wrestling business.

Pac leaving WWE due to unhappiness during his time as Neville didn’t make any difference in his friendship with Balor. The picture here came when Pac was already in AEW as Finn even titled it using Pac’s new nickname of The Bastard to show off their friendship.

1 Liv Morgan & Ruby Soho

The WWE firing of Ruby Soho hurt Liv Morgan as much as anyone else to lose one of her best friends. Ruby’s time in WWE leading the Riott Squad saw Morgan and Sarah Logan becoming her real-life closest friends to mirror the on-screen role.

AEW signing Ruby right away and pushing her in a noteworthy role made her release a success story. Soho and Morgan encountered each other recently at an airport and filmed a video of the emotional moment hugging at the most fortunate timing possible.
