10 Wrestlers You Didn't Know Beat Bret Hart In WCW
Jessica Wilkins Bret “The Hitman” Hart departed WWE in 1997, riding a wave of sympathy and outrage from the infamous “Montreal Screwjob” that took him straight to World Championship Wrestling, where he made his debut on the 12/15/1997 episode of Monday Nitro. From there, Bret Hart never quite felt like the star he did in WWE, but he was a constant presence on the show and managed to capture the United States Championship four times, the Tag Team Title once, and the WCW World Title twice.

As an accomplished champion and star, Bret Hart was pretty hard to defeat, and often seemed unbeatable. But a handful of wrestlers were able to score victories over the Hitman, including some who might surprise you.
10 Lex Luger
Bret Hart and “The Total Package” Lex Luger overlapped in WWE, but, save for when they both won the 1994 Royal Rumble at the same time -- they never met in the ring in a televised match until WCW.
Surprisingly their first meeting had Luger successfully defeat Hart for the United States Heavyweight Championship on the 8/10/1998 episode of Monday Nitro. This victory would be short-lived, however, as Hart would win back the title days later on Thunder.
9 Scott Hall
During their time together in WWE, Scott Hall (as Razor Ramon) could never beat Bret Hart, who coincidentally also scored a win over the fake Razor Ramon before his departure from the company. However, on the 8/11/1999 episode of Monday Nitro, Hall won a four-way match also involving Goldberg and Sid Vicious to win Hart’s US Title.
This wouldn’t be Scott Hall’s only victory over Hart: on the 12/13/1999 episode of Nitro, Hall and Kevin Nash would beat Goldberg and Hart for the Tag Team Titles as well.
8 Sting
When Bret Hart arrived in WCW, there was one obvious dream match that The Hitman needed to have. Given that Hart adapted the Scorpion Death Lock into The Sharpshooter, it seemed like a slam dunk to run Hart against Sting.

While the two took part in tag team matches and the like, their first matchup on a October 1998 episode of Nitro ended in a No Contest. Hart scored his first win over Sting at Halloween Havoc ‘98, but Sting finally got a singles victory over the Hitman a year later, successfully defending his World Title on an October 1999 episode of Nitro.
7 Chris Benoit
Bret Hart and fellow Canadian Chris Benoit had several notable match-ups during their time in WCW, including a near-30-minute classic on the 10/4/1999 episode of Monday Nitro. In most of their matches, Bret Hart was able to get a victory on Benoit.
However, throughout 1998 and 1999, Benoit was able to win three times via disqualification. While that’s not as exciting or satisfying as a pinfall or submission, it’s still a win.
6 Booker T
A former tag team champion as Harlem Heat who found tremendous singles success in WCW, Booker T and Bret “The Hitman” Hart clashed five times throughout their time in the company together. Unfortunately, the first three times were either DQs or No Contest finishes, two of which were in Booker T’s favor as far as the record books are concerned.
On the 2/22/1999 episode of Monday Nitro, however, Booker T finally scored a legitimate victory over Bret Hart in a match to determine a #1 Contender to the United States Title.
5 Kevin Nash
Under his old WWE persona of Diesel, Kevin Nash met Bret Hart in several matches, including the No Holds Barred Survivor Series match for the WWE Championship, where Hart dethroned “Big Daddy Cool.”
In WCW, however, Nash was able to score a couple of victories over Hart, including in the aforementioned Hall/Nash Tag Team Title victory over champions Bret Hart and Goldberg. Before that, however, Nash teamed with Diamond Dallas Page to beat Hart and Hollywood Hogan on the 6/11/1998 episode of Thunder.
4 Diamond Dallas Page
Outside of the various instances of Bret Hart dropping a title via in-ring loss, it may surprise fans to find out just how many times The Hitman lost to one of WCW’s homegrown stars in Diamond Dallas Page. The first time they shared a ring on an April 1998 episode of Thunder, Page and his partner Kevin Nash got a win over Hart and Hollywood Hogan.

In the fall of 1998, however, Page scored two notable singles victories over Hart. First, DDP defeated Hart on the 10/26 episode of Nitro, winning the US Title in the process. Following that, the two had a rematch in the main event of World War 3, where Page successfully retained the title.
3 Roddy Piper
At WrestleMania VIII, Bret Hart not only beat “Rowdy” Roddy Piper for the Intercontinental Championship in a classic match, but he achieved something even more impressive: he got a clean win over Piper, which few wrestlers have ever been able to do.
Piper and Hart met in three WCW matches later in the 1990s, and Piper ended up winning two out of the three. First, Piper’s team beat Hart’s team in a WarGames match, and then in February of 1999, Piper defeated Hart for the United States Championship on Nitro.
2 Konnan
They have only ever had two televised matches together in their entire careers, but Konnan has a special significance in the history of Bret Hart because he’s the one who taught the Hitman how to do the Sharpshooter.
In their first televised match, on a November 1998 episode of Nitro, Konnan scored a DQ victory, but he actually has a single house show victory over Hart, having defeated him and Scott Hall in a tag match alongside Lex Luger. It is the only other time they’ve ever wrestled.
1 Warrior
The Ultimate Warrior’s 1998 arrival in WCW is considered so disastrous thanks to his Halloween Havoc bout against Hollywood Hogan that it’s overshadowed the fact that he had multiple matches for the company before unceremoniously disappearing in the wake of his loss to Hogan.
Warrior wrestled two other matches, both of which were wins over Bret Hart. One was a DQ victory over Hart and Hollywood Hogan, but the other was a win over Hart’s nWo team in a WarGames match at Fall Brawl ‘98, alongside Diamond Dallas Page and Roddy Piper.
