5 Best WWE Tag Team Champions Of The Golden Era (& 5 Worst)
Jessica Wilkins The WWE Golden Era was pretty good for the tag team division. There were too many talented teams, such as the Wild Samoans, Demolition, The Legion Of Doom, The British Bulldogs, The Brain Busters, The Hart Foundation, among others. In fact, some of those tag teams are still considered the best in WWE history.

Between 1982 and 1992 there were different WWE World Tag Team Champions, some teams had great, long and dominant reigns, but other teams were simply lackluster champions. So, without further ado, let's take a look at the five best WWE Tag Team Champions of the Golden Era (and the five worst).
10 Best: Money Inc.
Right in the final year of the Golden Era (1992), Money Inc. (Irwin R. Schyster and Ted DiBiase) were WWE World Tag Team Champions. They won the titles on February 7, 1992, after defeating the Legion of Doom in a house show. They held the titles for 164 days, having 12 successful title defenses, until they lost the titles to The Natural Disasters. Irwin R. Schyster and Ted DiBiase were excellent champions, they certainly didn't have outstanding matches, but their character work and mic work was enough.
9 Worst: The Dream Team![The Dream Team As Tag Champs]()
This was a random team that somehow managed to win tag team gold. Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine didn't seem compatible, and, indeed, their teamwork was nothing special, which is not surprising considering neither was a great performer. Still, The Dream Team held the Tag Team Titles for over seven months, until they dropped them to The British Bulldogs at WrestleMania II (in what was the best match of their reign).
8 Best: The British Bulldogs![British Bulldogs in WWE]()
Speaking of The British Bulldogs, Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid were some of the best World Tag Team Champions of the WWE Golden Era. They only had one Tag Team Championship reign, but it was a pretty good one. It started at WrestleMania II and ended 294 days later on the February 7, 1987, episode of Superstars when they lost to the Hart Foundation. The British Bulldogs successfully defended the title 19 times and had some very good matches.
7 Worst: The Colossal Connection
Andre the Giant and Haku formed a tag team called The Colossal Connection, and even captured the World Tag Team Championship on one occasion. During the December 30, 1989, episode of Superstars, Andre the Giant and Haku defeated Demolition to win the titles.

This team would have been great if Andre had been in his prime, but back then he could barely move, so Haku was the one who had to carry the team, which made the matches boring and predictable. The Colossal Connection ended up losing the titles to Demolition at WrestleMania 6.
6 Best: The Legion Of Doom![legion-of-doom-wwe]()
The Legion Of Doom won their first WWE World Tag Team Championship at the end of the Golden Era, and they proved to be among the best champions of the time. Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk were not the most talented in the ring, but they knew how to tell a story, they did excellent character work, and they knew how to fire up the crowd. This team had a unique presence and stood out in one way or another, and that's precisely why they were such great champions.
5 Worst: Chief Jay Strongbow & Jules Strongbow
Chief Jay Strongbow and Jules Strongbow are forgotten WWE World Tag Team Champions, and rightfully so, as their two title reigns in the Golden Era were lackluster. They had a reign of less than a day, and the second time they became champions they held the titles for four months, but most of the defenses were at live events, and they didn't really contribute anything to the tag team division.
4 Best: Demolition
Demolition (Ax and Smash) were three-time WWE World Tag Team Champions in the Golden Era. But it's not just about quantity, and they were top-notch champions, and even had an amazing 478-day title reign. Individually, Ax and Smash were average workers, but as a team they were incredible and just looked for pain and destruction. Two powerhouse wrestlers with great looks, good in-ring skills, charisma, presence, and good heel work.
3 Worst: Nikolai Volkoff & The Iron Sheik
At the first WrestleMania in history, Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik joined forces to defeat Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo to become WWE World Tag Team Champions. The team of Volkoff and the Iron Sheik wasn't bad at all, they had the potential to be good champions, but the booking completely ruined their Tag Team Title run, as they had mediocre title defenses, winning by disqualification or losing by count out, among other things. They ended up dropping the titles to Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo.
2 Best: The Hart Foundation![hart-foundation-tag-team-champions]()
The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart), won the World Tag Team Titles twice during the WWE Golden Era. They were amazing champions, they held the titles for 483 days in total, putting on great shows and making the titles feel important.

Their best match was arguably at SummerSlam 1990, when Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart defeated Demolition (Crush and Smash) in a Best Two-Out-Of-Three falls match to win the Tag Team Championship.
1 Worst: The Natural Disasters
Earthquake and Typhoon formed a monster tag team, which was intimidating and was a good alternative to entertain the fans. However, they should not have won the Tag Team Titles, as their in-ring work was mediocre, they lacked charisma and overall they did not have what it took to lead the tag team division. The Natural Disasters were champions for three months at the end of the WWE Golden Era and did not have a single outstanding match.
