5 Performers Who NEED To Be Inducted Into The 2018 WWE Hall Of Fame

The WWE Hall of Fame is an annual event that happens over WrestleMania weekend. We as wrestling writers like to analyze and predict everything else about that weekend, so why not this too? This is one of the biggest honors a wrestler can achieve, and whether you enjoy the night or not, it’s usually quite memorable and fun to watch and reminisce about a performer's career. For the purposes of this article, we’ve tried to take a performer from all departments of WWE (legend, woman, tag team, celebrity, and backstage), and we’ve come up with these five names that we think should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.

5. Lemmy Kilmister

The celebrity wing of WWE’s Hall of Fame doesn’t get a new entrant every year, but for the purpose of this article, we’ll include one. After his passing in 2015, why not the legendary Motorhead frontman, Lemmy Kilmister? He was a big fan of the WWE, and had a relationship with Triple H for many years, and even made (and performed live) The Game’s two most iconic songs, The Game, and King of Kings. There are fewer and fewer people that make sense for induction into WWE’s celebrity wing for the Hall of Fame, but knowing his relationship with Triple H and the influence The Game now has, this is going to happen sooner or later, so it makes sense to happen in 2018.

4. Jim Johnston

One of the most memorable and iconic parts of the WWE’s presentation over the past few decades is a performer's theme music, and so many of those tunes have been put together by Jim Johnston. Unfortunately for him, the WWE is looking to go in a much younger direction with CFO$, who now produce most of the music, and they released Johnston after a 32-year stint with the company. He was responsible for iconic themes for the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Randy Orton, the 2006 DX, Roman Reigns, and The New Day. While it may be early, Johnston certainly deserves a spot, so why not in 2018?

3. Chyna

The Women’s Revolution in WWE is in full swing, and while we’ve seen people like Paige, Emma or even the Bellas take credit; there’s one name who deserves quite a bit, and that’s the legendary, late Chyna. She broke down barriers and challenged gender norms in the WWE back in the Attitude Era, and alongside Shawn Michaels and Triple H (and even after the DX days), she was one of the biggest stars the company had. Unfortunately, due to backstage drama and her career choices late in life, the WWE were reluctant to induct her while she’d be there to give a speech. So after her passing in 2016, it makes sense to do it now and give Chyna the recognition she deserves as a WWE legend.

2. The Dudley Boyz

The WWE pride themselves on the number of legendary tag teams they have featured over the years, and after inducting the legendary Rock N’ Roll Express in 2017, it makes sense for the rumored Dudley Boyz to follow suit. Despite their disappointing final run in WWE, over the past few years, The Dudleyz are arguably the greatest tag team in wrestling. They’ve held over 20 Championships in ECW, New Japan, TNA, and WWE, and are remembered fondly for their role in the creation of TLC. It’s only a matter of time until all three tag teams from that iconic Attitude Era rivalry are inducted into the Hall of Fame, but if rumors are to be believed, Bubba Ray and D-Von will be the first, and deservedly so.

1. Goldberg

Goldberg may not be one of the best wrestlers ever, but he made himself into a huge name in WCW. And after a decent run in 2016/17, it makes sense for him to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Sure, a lot of people would want The Undertaker to have this spot, but rumors about him returning still haven’t died down. So until we know something official on his retirement, (which may happen when he appears on Raw's 25^th Anniversary), this is the logical choice. Goldberg is a name that transcends the wrestling business, and after the likes of Kurt Angle, Sting, Edge, and The Ultimate Warrior have headlined in recent years, no one can argue that Goldberg doesn’t deserve this spot.
