The new promotion went on to recruit a healthy mix of experienced and new wrestlers to its roster, and the company has gone on to become the next big thing in the world of pro wrestling.
While most fans would credit the company's success to Tony Khan, only a few would know about the man behind him. Tony Khan is the son of billionaire Shahid Khan, who is one of the wealthiest businessmen in the entire world.

8 His Early Days

Shahid Khan was born to a middle-class family in Lahore, Pakistan, and grew up in a humble environment and his family was involved in the construction business. His mother was a Mathematics professor, while his father had a shop that sold survey and drawing equipment.
He used to have a brother named Tariq Rafiq, who died in his early 20s. Despite his humble background, Shahid Khan had the dream of going to the United States, which he ended up fulfilling at a very young age.
7 Came To The United States At The Age Of 16

Growing up in a family that dealt with the construction business, Shahid Khan naturally had an aptitude for architecture, and he dreamed of becoming an architect.
He went to the United States at the age of 16 to fulfill his desire, and enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-champaign. He spent his first night in the country in a $2/night room at the University YMCA.
His first job was to clean dishes, which earned him around $1.20 an hour. He them graduated from the Grainger College of Engineering with a B.Sc. in industrial engineering in 1971.
6 Bought The First Company He Worked For

While cleaning dishes was the first job he had after going to the United States, Shahid Khan got his first real job at the automotive manufacturing company Flex-N-Gate Corporation while still studying at the University of Illinois.
He became the Engineer Director of the company after graduating from the university. He then formed Bumper Works, a company that made car bumpers for customized pickup trucks and body shop repairs.

He took a $50,000 loan from the Small Business Administration and used $16,000 of his own money to fund the business. Khan then went on to buy Flex-N-Gate from his previous employer and grew the company even more.
5 Family & Children
Shahid Khan met his wife, Ann Carlson, at the University of Illinois in 1967, and the two went on to date for the next ten years. They married in 1977 and had two children together, a daughter named Shanna Khan and a son named Tony Khan born in 1982.
Shahid Khan went on to become highly successful after purchasing Flex-N-Gate, and he gave both his children good education as Tony Khan went on to graduate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2007 with a B.Sc degree in finance.
4 Is The Lead Investor Of All Elite Wrestling
While wrestling fans are aware of Tony Kahn's involvement in All Elite Wrestling as the president, chief executive, general manager, and executive producer, only a few would know that Shahid Khan is the lead investor and co-owner of the company.
While his son takes care of all the administrative duties and has the best team of executives to take care of the creative decisions, Shahid Khan doesn't involve himself too much in AEW and has given full authority to his son.
3 Owner Of The Jacksonville Jaguars

Shahid Khan decided to venture into the world of professional football when he tried to buy 60% of the St. Louis Rams in February 2010. But since that didn't come to fruition, Khan purchased the Jacksonville Jaguars from Wayne Weave for $770 million.

NFL approved the purchase in December 2011, and the sale got finalized on January 4, 2012, which made Shahid Khan the first member of an ethnic minority to own an NFL team.
2 Owns An English Soccer Club

Apart from owning the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL, Shahid Khan is also the owner of the English soccer team Fulham F.C. Khan negotiated to purchase the club in 2013 and reached a deal with the previous owner Mohamed Al Fayed.
While the press had estimated the purchase price to be around $400 million, Khan did not reveal an official purchase prize for the cup stating that it was highly confidential.

As mentioned earlier, Shahid Khan is one of the richest people in the United States and owns around $8.3 million worth of estate in a penthouse on the 61st floor of Park Tower in Chicago.
Combined with his earnings from all his business ventures, Forbes has listed Shahid Khan as ranking 144th in its list of Billionaires as on the day of this writing. He also reportedly ranks higher in the list of wealthiest sports owners in the world.
