Adam Cole Gives To Advice To Released WWE & Ring Of Honor Talents
David Craig AEW wrestler Adam Cole provided some encouraging words for the wrestlers who were recently released from the WWE and Ring of Honor promotions.
On Oct. 27, Ring of Honor announced that the company was going on hiatus, and that they hope to resume live events in April 2022. All ROH talents were released from their contracts as a result, and the promotion's library is reportedly up for sale as well.
On Thursday evening, WWE released 18 more superstars, with the majority of cuts coming from the NXT roster. Keith Lee, Nia Jax, Ember Moon, Karrion Kross, Mia Yim and Oney Lorcan were among the releases. This marked the fourth major series of WWE cuts in 2021, with the previous three taking place in April, June and August.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio (h/t WrestlingInc.com), Cole — who debuted for AEW at the All Out pay-per-view on Sept. 5 — offered a strong and motivational message to the talents who were released by ROH and WWE:
"Ring Of Honor is an incredible company, and the people who were in WWE who got let go, again, your talent, it spoke for itself. There’s a reason you were able to advance so far within the industry and get so far. Because, a lot of people saw a lot of talent in you, and a lot of people still do see a lot of talent in you. So no matter how long it takes, if these people continue to have patience and continue to show the world how good they are, trust me when I tell you, it’s going to work out.
"I know it can be a really scary time and a really scary feeling when stuff like that happens and I’m sure it is. I’m not trying to discredit or say it’s not something that they’d be stressed about because of course, they would...Each and every one of them are insanely talented, so I wish them nothing but the best, and I have full confidence that no matter where it is, they’re going to make an impact in pro wrestling for years to come if they choose to."

WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis reportedly informed the released talents that they were being let go due to budget cuts. Standard WWE contracts consist of 90-day non-compete clauses for main roster talents and 30-day non-compete clauses for NXT stars.
Vince McMahon and WWE officials started the long series of layoffs back in Apr. 2020. Dozens of superstars and employees were released from their contracts. It was a massive change of direction considering that WWE was previously stockpiling on talent to presumably keep them away from AEW.
Wise Words From Cole
There's a long list of former WWE superstars who have found great success after they were released by the company. Malakai Black, Ruby Soho, Andrade El Idolo, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are just some of the many examples. When one door closes, a new one opens, and these released talents will find new opportunities.
