The highly anticipated UFC 300 event features a compelling main event. Announced by UFC CEO Dana White, the light heavyweight title will be contested on April 13, with champion Alex Pereira defending against former titleholder Jamahal Hill, who never lost the championship in competition.
White revealed this exciting matchup on social media following the conclusion of Saturday's UFC 298 event. Pereira claimed the UFC light heavyweight title in November after defeating Jiri Prochazka by TKO, succeeding Hill who had vacated the title earlier. This victory marked Pereira's second reign as a divisional champion in the UFC.
Hill's ascent to the top culminated in a dominant title victory over Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 in January 2023. However, a debilitating Achilles tendon injury sustained during a UFC fighter basketball game in July forced him to relinquish the title, and he has been inactive since.
