Anthony Davis could be eyeing a move from New Orleans two summers from now, when he will become a free agent.

The Pelicans big man signed a five-year extension in 2015 with the addition of a player option for the 2020-2021 season. But certain journalists are of the view he wants out and will join a new team in the not-too-distant future.

It's hard to imagine a team trading for Davis next season, given his value and the huge hole he would leave in his current team's roster. But he will be free to play where he pleases in 2020, although he already qualifies for a supermax deal after making two All-NBA teams in the last three years, per reports.

According to Chris Sheridan of Get More Sports, Davis is considering playing with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks or Philadelphia 76ers.

However, the player is said to favor a move to either Boston or L.A.

Boston and Philadelphia probably offer the best chance for success, given their young but supremely talented cores. Teaming up with the likes of Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward would tempt just about any player in the NBA but there's also the lure of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons in Philly.

Los Angeles and New York, though, play in major markets and things are certainly looking up. And, of the two, you'd think that he'd prefer to move to the Western Conference side.

Given that there are two years left before Davis will be able to make his next move, he isn't in total control as the Pelicans could opt to trade him if they sense he won't resign.

Looking at it this way, time is on the Pelicans' side. And it makes sense that they would rather trade such a valuable asset by next year than lose him for absolutely nothing later down the line.

There is no need for urgency for either party at the moment and the player hasn't said anything to suggest he'd try to force a trade. But a move is something we should expect when ambitions are taken into consideration.
