You ask who the future face of boxing is and one resounding name comes out in response- Curmel Moton. Ever since his advent in the pro boxing ring this year, the 17-year-old fighter has emerged as a force of nature. In efforts to further his presence in the sport, Moton is all set to take his second professional fight against Hunter Turbyfill.

On the 25th of November, the Floyd Mayweather prodigy will enter the ring against Turbyfill for a junior lightweight clash. This fight is on the undercard for the WBC interim super middleweight clash between David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade. Moton comes riding high on his first-round stoppage victory over Ezequiel Flores in September this year. Moton is a 17-year-old fighter who began his boxing stint in the year 2012. His amateur career boasts an impressive 163 fights, out of which he’s won a solid 156. The fighter in his professional boxing career currently fights in the 126-pound weight class (lightweight).

His opponent, Turbyfill, on the other hand, has fought 3 bouts in his pro-boxing career since 2022. He was last seen against Nehemias Cruzz in an Oxford fight in which Turbyfill won through a unanimous decision. 28-year-old Turbyfill is based out of Tennessee and has fought in the super lightweight class till now.

In his amateur career, Moton has won 18 national titles. And now he inches toward the championships with each professional fight he undertakes. ‘Money’ took the young fighter under his wings the first time he saw him fight. He has also signed his protégé under Mayweather Promotions.

While Moton did want to explore the Olympic route, he felt that there remained nothing more to do in the amateur realm. Hence, he quickly transitioned into professional boxing. Generally, the minimum age for pro-fights is 18. However, Moton sought special permission from the Nevada State Athletic Commission to enter the ring at 17.

Moton’s opponent, Turbyfill, however, remains relatively unknown in the boxing realm.
