In an interdependent world, International Programs believes it is essential for students, faculty and staff to have the opportunity to become personally and intellectually familiar with the people, ideas and customs of other nations. Such interaction not only promotes a universal perspective and intellectual growth, but it also contributes to the cultural and economic well-being of the university, the state and the nation.

Inbound Mission Statement

The Office of International Programs strives to provide support and services to international students, scholars, and employees that will enable these individuals to lawfully pursue their academic and professional goals at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Due to our commitment to the population we serve, in the last 2 years, we have diligently worked to grow our services, to increase staff training to ensure compliance by participating in monthly webinars and attending conferences, and plan and host social-cultural programs such as International Education Week, Culture Hour and Clinical Culture and Diversity Series as well as to lend financial support to events sponsored by other organizations on campus including the Chinese New Year Celebration. We have enjoyed a wonderful upward momentum, and we will only continue to increase our offerings to our international students as well as keep abreast of the constant changes in the immigration world.

Since we all understand that change and improvements come at a cost, we have found that in order for our programs to continue such growth and for our campus to keep pace with those in Lawrence and other surrounding state institutions, we must employ an international student fee. As a result, effective Fall 2015, OIP will implement a new fee of $50.00 per semester to all KUMC F1 international students, which will align our program fees with the international program at the KU Lawrence campus and other premier institutions that have historically charged such fees.
