John Cena Returns To WWE, Confronts Roman Reigns At Money In The Bank
Mia Smith The rumors were true! Legendary WWE Superstar John Cena appeared at a WWE event for the first time since April of 2020, confronting Universal Champion Roman Reigns following the main event of Money In The Bank on Sunday.
It all went down at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas for WWE's first pay-per-view in front of fans since WrestleMania 37 back in April. Reigns had just successfully defended his title against WWE Hall Of Famer Edge in the show's main event. The Tribal Chief grabbed a microphone and demanded that the WWE Universe acknowledge him ... and then Cena's music hit.
The crowd went absolutely wild and provided Cena with what was surely his biggest pop in at least 10 years. The Cenation leader sprinted down the ramp and slid to the ring as the roof came off the venue. Cena taunted Reigns with his trademark "you can't see me gesture" and basked in the adoration of the WWE Universe as the show went off the air.
Cena and Roman's encounter lays the groundwork for a potential marquee match at SummerSlam next month.
The 16-time world champion hasn't appeared on WWE programming since WrestleMania 37 when he lost a cinematic "Firefly Fun House" match to Bray Wyatt.

Cena has been absent from WWE while he embarks on a carer in Hollywood, which is going pretty well. As well as big roles in movies like F9 (the most recent entry in the hugely successful Fast & Furious franchise) and the Transformer spinoff Bumblebee, Cena is also portraying the DC Comics character Peacemaker in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cena will team up with Gunn again for an action-adventure comedy series spinoff for HBO Max which explored the origins of the character.
The show was given a straight-to-series order from HBO. Warner execs are apparently high on the character due to Cena’s scene-stealing ways in early cuts of the film. Gunn will be writing all eight episodes of the show, as well as directing some of the episodes.
The Suicide Squad is set to be released in theaters on August 6, 2021, and digitally on HBO Max for one month starting on that same date.
