It was announced during Monday's episode of WWE Raw that Johnny Gargano was injured and was unable to compete in the tag team turmoil match that closed the three-hour show and saw Judgment Day become the No.1 contenders for the tag team championships. Candice LeRae had mentioned in a backstage segment that he was bummed he couldn't take part but that their focus as a couple was to get him back to 100%. Gargano tweeted during the show a bit more about when he injured himself. Tweeting that he hurt himself at a live event in Toronto, he noted he would try to get back for the Royal Rumble. The tweet didn't specify how likely that might be, but when he was a guest on The Bump this week, he elaborated on his injury and the potential timeline for his return. Related:Johnny Gargano’s WWE Return Has Been Underwhelming So Far Gargano noted that he was injured when he was thrown into the steel steps and that he sprained his AC joint and was told it would be about five or six weeks. "I'm going to do everything in my power to cut that time down," he said. He added that's the most transparent he can be about where he's at today. He then added that he's not been incredibly pleased with the way things have gone since his return to WWE. "I'm far from happy with how things have gone for me lately."

Gargano is Unlikely For The Rumble

While he said he's going to work hard to come back as soon as possible, it seems unlikely that he'll be taking part in the Royal Rumble. The pay-per-view is only two weeks away and a five or six-week timeline puts him well past the event to be healthy and ready to take more hits to his shoulder. There are ways to shelter him in a match like this, but one bad move or one wrong bump and he could be out much longer than the original timeline.

Gargano may still appear on the show, but he's probably not going to be among the 30 men competing for a shot at the main event of WrestleMania.
