Power Rangers' Ultimate Megazord Is the Combo You Waited 30 Years to See
John Castro Power Ranges fans have long wondered what the Dragonzord and White Tigerzord would look like merged into one Megazord, and now that wait is over!
Warning! This article contains spoilers for Power Rangers #15
The ultimate combo of two fan-favorite Megazords fans have waited thirty years to see has finally been introduced in the pages of BOOM! Studios’ Power Rangers comic series. Tommy Oliver is arguably the most well-known member of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and during his time in the ‘90s television series he took on the mantle of both the Green Ranger and White Ranger. With those Ranger personas also came two distinctly different and unarguably awesome Zords. Now, for the first time in Power Rangers history, those two Zords have merged into one ultimate Megazord.
In Power Rangers #15 by Ryan Parrott, Francesco Mortarino, and Marco Renna, the Eltarian race have invaded Earth and have launched a full-scale attack on the Power Rangers. While the Rangers answer the attack with their Megazords, the Elterians launch their own threateningly giant fighters to combat the Megazords. During this battle, the new Green Ranger and the classic White Ranger combine their Zords to create the highly anticipated ultimate Megazord combo.
Tommy Oliver’s Green Ranger introduced fans to the Dragonzord, and when he became the White Ranger his Zord became the White Tigerzord. Since they were both used by the same fan-favorite Ranger, Power Rangers fans have always wondered what Tommy’s two Zords would look like if they merged into one. The wait is over as this issue sees the Dragonzord and White Tigerzord join together to become the White Tiger Dragonzord, and it does not disappoint. Upon the merging it does take some time for the Green and White Rangers to get fully in sync while battling the intergalactic threat. The more experienced Tommy Oliver has to coach the new Green Ranger, Matthew Cook, in how to properly operate the Megazord by teaching him how to channel his feelings through the Power Grid and truly merge with the Megazord in order to properly control it. In the end, the White Tiger Dragonzord proves itself to be incredibly powerful while fighting the Elterians, as it is able to eventually destroy one of the alien invaders’ Empyreal assailants. This shows that this combo isn't just a fan service to long-time Power Rangers fans, but also an incredibly useful addition to the team.
The reason it has taken so long for these two Zords to combine into the White Tiger Dragonzord is because the two Zords needed to create this perfect combo were used by the same Ranger at different points in time and had never intersected until now. Tommy Oliver was originally the Green Ranger and the first user of the Dragonzord. He then abandoned that Zord for the White Tigerzord when he became the White Ranger. Now, thanks to Matthew Cook for picking up the Green Ranger mantle, this long-awaited combination finally became possible.
Now that the Dragonzord and White Tigerzord have merged to become the White Tiger Dragonzord, the door has been left wide open for that combo to happen again in the future. The Green and White Rangers take some time to get their footing with this new Megazord, but once they do, they prove it was an incredibly powerful asset to the team, and much to fans' delight, they will assuredly want to use the power combo again in the not too distant future. The Powers Rangers’ ultimate Megazord is the combo fans have waited thirty years to see, and it is just as awesome as anyone could have ever imagined.
