Raquel González is the new NXT Women's champion!
González beat defending champ Io Shirai for the title in the main event of Night 1 of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.
In a match that over-delivered (although it probably could've been a few minutes longer) González was able to get the better of her opponent thanks to her brute strength.
The win marks the start of González's first reign as a singles champion in WWE. She previously held the NXT Women's Tag Championship with Dakota Kai, but only for a few hours.
The 30-year-old signed with WWE in October of 2016 and her in-ring debut on January 20, 2017 at an NXT live event. Under the name Reina González, she competed in the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament.
