Almost 40 years on from this pro wrestling debut, Sting will bring the curtain down on his incredible career at AEW Revolution next month. Sting announced last year that the match he wrestles at the Greensboro Coliseum on March 3 will be his last. After weeks of teasing, we now know who that match is going to be against, even though it hasn't officially been confirmed. It will almost certainly be against The Young Bucks, with the AEW Tag Titles on the line.
Sting And Darby Allin Win Tag Team Gold
Sting and Allin became Tag Champs for the first time on Dynamite this week, beating Big Bill and Ricky Starks for the belts. Allin dealt with Bill, sending himself and the former champ careening through a table, while Sting hit Starks with a Scorpion Death Drop to seal the win in the ring. The celebrations were short-lived as not long after Sting and Allin had their hands raised, The Young Bucks stormed the ring, baseball bats in hand, and proceeded to exact a vicious attack on the new champions.
AEW Revolution 2024 Guide: Match Card, Predictions
Everything you need to know about AEW's first PPV of 2024.Again, the match between the two teams hasn't been officially confirmed for Revolution, but it seems almost nailed on that Allin and Sting vs. The Young Bucks will be The Icon's final match with less than a month to go until the PPV. It won't only be the Tag Titles on the line either. Sting has wrestled 25 matches in AEW since he signed with the promotion in 2021, winning all of them. He also teamed with Allin in all 25 of those matches, making them unbeaten as a tag team too.
Revolution Retirement
The Young Bucks disappeared for a couple of months at the end of 2023 and returned to TV last month with a much more heelish aura about them. Clearly putting the pieces in place for them to play the bad guys as they attempt to ruin Sting's last match. While there's no real history between the teams, it's unsurprising Sting has chosen The Bucks for his last match considering their almost flawless record when it comes to putting on incredible performances on AEW's biggest stages.
Since Sting will be hanging up his boots after Revolution, it seems a given that he and Allin will lose their 26th and final match together. The most likely scenario is The Bucks win the titles after an incredible match, becoming red-hot heels in the process as they send Sting packing. What I'm expecting, and hoping for, is an Allin heel turn. For him to turn on Sting in the legend's final match would be something else and set Allin up as a top heel in AEW for a very long time.
