Tatanka Claims He Has Bettered Goldberg's Undefeated Streak, And He Might Have A Point
Olivia Owen WWE legend Tatanka claims he not only went on a longer undefeated streak than Goldberg, he thinks he had a record of 1000 and 0 at one point.
There are a handful of famous streaks in wrestling. The most famous of all is The Undertaker's. The Deadman competed at 21 WrestleManias, winning a match at every single one before he eventually lost to Brock Lesnar at the 22nd time of asking. Another famous streak is Goldberg's in WCW. It's claimed that the Hall of Famer went 173 matches before registering his first loss.
Not only is it considered the longest winning streak in wrestling history, but it happened during a time when more eyes were on the product than ever before or since. Nitro was beating Raw in the ratings and Goldberg was one of those leading the way. The thing is, more than 20 years later, another wrestler has disputed that Goldberg holds the record.

During an interview with Boston Wrestling MWF's Dan Mirade, Tatanka claims during his WWE heyday he went on a 1000 match winning streak. "I’d probably be close to 1,000 and 0 because I went two years undefeated," Tatanka claimed. The former WWE Superstar's thinking behind this is hinged on the belief that there was a time in his career when he was wrestling 500 times per year.
The undefeated streak Tatanka is referring to took place between the years 1991 and 1993. If he really did wrestle 500 times per year for two years, then he might well have a point. However, even though wrestlers did indeed work more back then, we can't imagine Tatanka would have wrestled more than 300 times each year. That being said, statistics supplied by CageMatch.net suggest that the legend might have a point when it comes to the two streaks.
There has always been some dispute over exactly how long Goldberg's streak really was. Even though it's widely accepted that Goldberg won 173 times before suffering defeat, CageMatch believes the number is actually 153. As for Tatanka, his longest run without losing was 174 matches due to the fact he lost matches at live events despite always winning on TV. So his streak was longer than Goldberg's, but he lost matches before the streak started, unlike the WCW icon.
