The Exact Lip Color Gal Gadot Wears As Wonder Woman
David Mccullough What sort of makeup does a hero like Wonder Woman wear? The answer to that question changed over time. Comic book classicists likely recall the character wearing red lipstick while fighting crime, but Gal Gadot told Allure in 2020 that a bold look wasn't right for the movies. Why? It made it harder to blend in. "Wonder Woman works in the shadows," she explained. "We found that going with a bold lip was just going to draw more attention."
Vampy, attention-grabbing red was ruled a better choice for Margot Robbie's interpretation of the delightfully demented DC baddie Harley Quinn. The makeup department left the super-bright glam to Robbie and introduced a fresh-faced routine for Gadot. That was the case all the way down to her lips. If you've ever wondered exactly what products they used to perfect her pout, Gadot's makeup artist Sarah Brock broke that down.
According to Brock, Gadot used the Chanel Rouge COCO Baume, a hydrating and conditioning lip balm, and Perricone MD's No Makeup Lipstick. She described the latter as a lip treatment that "mimics the natural, rosy color of your lips" in an interview with People. As an added bonus, it also has SPF to protect from sun damage. Even heroes break the rules sometimes: Gadot told Allure she wore Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in shade Crushed Rubies for a scene in "Wonder Woman: 1984."
