The Last 10 Women's Title Reigns In WWE That Lasted A Year
John Castro Women's wrestling has certainly gone through stages of brilliance and and being dreadful to watch. It was arguably at its lowest in the early stages of the Attitude Era and from 2008-2014 until the women's evolution salvaged women's wrestling. Still, it's a privilege to hold a Women's Championship, and especially before the title retired in 1990, several women managed to hold the Women's Championship for at least a year.

Even some of the all-time greats who wrestled in poor eras still managed to make a championship feel meaningful. Moreover, a lengthy Women's Title reign doesn't mean it's always great by any stretch of the imagination. Some Women's Championship runs have dragged on which inevitably become stale. However, you can only beat what's in front of you, and in some instances, these Women's Champions kept beating what was in front of them for over a year.
10 The Fabulous Moolah - WWE Women's Champion (10,170 Days)
The Fabulous Moolah may go down in history as the greatest WWE Women's Champion of all time in terms of longevity with her Women's Title reign. Moolah became the inaugural Women's Champion on September 18, 1956.
Now there are a few bits of discrepancies with her reign as she technically dropped the Women's Title but WWE recognize her reign lasting 10,170 days. Moolah's 28-year-reign as Women's Champion will never be topped with her record set in stone, probably forever.
9 The Fabulous Moolah - WWE Women's Champion (379 Days)
Moolah has a knack for holding the Women's Championship and she wasted no time with another lengthy title reign. On a tour of Australia in 1986, Moolah defeated Velvet McIntyre for the gold on July 9, 1986, in Sydney to kickstart her third Women's Championship run.
Despite holding the gold for 379 days, Moolah only defended the Women's Championship four times on several live events. Her former mentee Sherri Martel, who went on to become the Sensational Sherri beat Moolah for the title on July 24, 1987, in Houston, Texas.
8 Sherri Martel - WWE Women's Champion (441 Days)
Many fans will forget that Sherri Martel even held the Women's Championship. Martel is more familiar amongst fans for her role as a manager. Nevertheless, Sherri could hold her own in the ring and she kickstarted her sole Women's Championship reign at The Fabulous Moolah's expense.
It's a shame that Sherri never managed to defend the title on pay-per-view as fans would have been able to see her put on some magnificent matches. Martel held the title for a whopping 441 days before Rockin' Robin beat her for the gold on an episode of Prime Time Wrestling in Paris, France.
7 Rockin' Robin - WWE Women's Champion (502 Days)
Rockin' Robin is the half-sister of Jake "The Snake" Roberts and she managed to accomplish something which her brother never achieved in WWE and that's winning a championship. Robin became the new face of the Women's division when she brought Martel's reign to an end in October 1988.

Sadly women's wrestling began to take a backseat, as Robin was the last woman to hold a Women's Championship for an entire calendar year for the next 31 years. The only noteworthy title defense came at the 1989Royal Rumble when she beat Judy Martin to retain the title. The Women's Championship was deactivated in 1990 but she has the distinction of being the second-longest reigning Women's Champion with that iteration of the belt.
6 Trish Stratus - WWE Women's Champion (448 Days)
Trish Stratus deserves a lot of credit for her hard work and determination to become the WWE Women's Champion. Trish held the Women's Championship on seven separate occasions but her sixth reign with the title is her most iconic one.
At New Year's Revolution 2005, Trish defeated her ailing rival Lita in a quick match to kickstart her 448-day reign as Women's Champion. Even when Trish wasn't wrestling as much due to niggling injuries she still held the title in her possession. Trish's notable title defenses saw her retain the title against Christy Hemme in a lackluster Women's Title match at WrestleMania 21, before she dropped it to Mickie James at WrestleMania 22, much to the delight of the crowd.
5 Asuka - NXT Women's Champion (522 Days)
There's no doubt that Asuka is the greatest NXT Women's Champion of all time. The Empress of Tomorrow defeated Bayley at NXT Takeover: Dallas to begin her love affair with the NXT Women's Championship on April 1, 2016.
Asuka has the distinction of being an unbeaten NXT Women's Champion which is simply remarkable. She was head and shoulders above the rest of the field in NXT which is why she held the championship for 522 days. Heaven alone knows how much longer Asuka would have held the title for, but she sustained a collarbone injury which forced her to relinquish the title in September 2017.
4 Shayna Baszler - NXT Women's Champion (416 Days)
Shayna Baszler certainly brought legitimacy to the NXT Women's Championship with her dominant style in the ring. The Queen of Spades made history as the first two-time NXT Women's Champion when she powered her way past Kairi Sane at Evolution 2018.

Baszler's second time around as NXT Women's Champion was far better, as she held the championship for 416 days. Baszler even overcame Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch and SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley in the first women's main event at Survivor Series 2019. It's fair to say that Baszler has failed to translate her dominance on the main roster with questionable booking.
3 Becky Lynch - Raw Women's Champion (398 Days)
The rise of Becky Lynch as a franchise player saw her capture both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships in the first women's main event at WrestleMania 35. Becky Two Belts lasted for a month as she lost the SmackDown Women's Title to Charlotte Flair. Nevertheless, The Man was unstoppable as she beat every challenger that came her way.
Her victory against Sasha Banks inside Hell in a Cell was the pick of the bunch. Long title reigns tend to grow tiresome and Lynch's 398-day reign as Raw Women's Champion began to pass its sell-by date. She relinquished the title in an emotional moment with Asuka as she announced that she was pregnant on the Raw after Money in the Bank.
2 Bayley - SmackDown Women's Champion (380 Days)
It became clear that Bayley was getting left behind her Four Horsewomen counterparts as Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch had settled into life on the main roster. Bayley did have her moments, but she really hit her stride when she turned heel.
The Role Model beat Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's Championship which ushered in a new era as she went on to hold the title for a record 380 days. Bayley deserved this title run as she carried SmackDown along with Sasha Banks throughout the Pandemic Era. Banks bested her for the title in a high-profile Hell in a Cell match in 2020.
1 Kay Lee Ray - NXT UK Women's Champion (649 Days)
In 2018, the NXT UK Women's Championship was created and Rhea Ripley certainly impressed as champion which is why she had success in the American version of NXT and on Raw. Nevertheless, Kay Lee Ray has been synonymous with the belt as she held the title for a record 649 days.
Ray also created a bit of history which some of the all-time great Women's Champions have failed to do. In 2020, she became the first woman since Rockin' Robin in 1989 to hold a Women's Championship in WWE for a calendar year. The coronavirus pandemic disrupted things in 2020 which is why she didn't defend the title as much as she wanted to. Ultimately, Meiko Satomura ended her reign of terror in the summer of 2021.
