Thunder Rosa Injured, Interim AEW Women's Champion To Be Crowned At All Out
John Castro AEW Women's Champion Thunder Rosa is unable to defend her title due to an injury ... but she's not relinquishing the gold. Instead, AEW will crown an interim AEW Women's Champion at the promotion's upcoming All Out pay-per-view.During a backstage interview with Tony Schiavone on this week's edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS, Rosa revealed that she will be taking some time off to recover from an injury. As a result, Toni Storm, and Jamie Hayter will compete in a four-way match alongside former AEW Women's Champions Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida at All Out on September 4.
With Britt Baker and her loyal crony Jamie Hayter both competing for the gold, the All Out four-way could prove to be very interesting.
As you might recall, Thunder Rosa became AEW Women's World Champion when she defeated Britt Baker in a steel cage on the special St. Patrick's Day Slam edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS on March 16.
The victory marked the end of a lengthy but well-paced feud between the two women who famously beat the crap out of each other in a critically acclaimed Lights Out Match at 2021's St. Patrick's Day Slam. Rosa won that bout too, but Britt would go on to win the AEW Women's World Championship from Hikaru Shida at Double or Nothing just a few weeks later.
With the title on the line, Baker and Rosa went one-on-one at Revolution on March 7. Rosa looked to have her rival beat at several points throughout the match, but interference from Baker's cronies (Rebel and Jamie Hayter) ultimately cost Rosa the gold. Rosa earned another shot at Baker's title by defeating Leyla Hirsch on the March 9 edition of Dynamite, but she was determined to learn from the injustices of the past ... which is why she challenged Baker to a steel cage match.
