Time magazine has asked the Trump organisation to remove fake Time covers bearing Donald Trump's image from his golf clubs, reports the Guardian.

Originally spotted by the Washington Post on Tuesday, the fake magazine cover has been spotted "in at least five of President Trump's clubs, from South Florida to Scotland" – including the Trump National Doral in Miami and Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

The fake cover features Donald Trump's image and boasts his great success, reading: "Donald Trump: The 'Apprentice' is a television smash!" as well as "TRUMP IS HITTING ON ALL FRONTS … EVEN TV!"

The Time spokeswoman, Kerri Chyka, confirmed that "this is not a real Time cover," as well as that there was no 1 March 2009 issue of Time magazine. The real March edition, featuring Kate Winslet was from 2 March 2009. There was no issue in 2009 featuring Trump on the cover.

As shown above, the fake cover has a few telling mistakes; from its red border, which is skinnier than that of a genuine Time cover, to the placement of the secondary headlines and the addition of a white border – neither of which are included on a real Time cover, either.

The Washington Post reporter David Fahrenthold also discovered that the barcode featured on the fake Trump cover was taken from an online graphic-design tutorial showing you how to fake a Time cover:

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a spokeswoman for the president, told the Washington Post she would not comment on the "decor" of his golf clubs.
