• ‘Vacation’ (2015)

  The sixth installment of the National Lampoon's Vacation franchise, Vacation follows a grown up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) as he recreates his childhood vacation with his own family on a disastrous cross-country road trip to the Walley World theme park. Christina Applegate, Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins also star in the comedy, which hit theaters Friday.

• ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ (2008)

  A heartbroken music composer (Jason Segel) travels to Hawaii to get his mind off of his recent breakup with girlfriend of five years, movie star Sarah Marshall (played by Kristen Bell). His vacation goes sour when he arrives at the island and realizes his ex-girlfriend is also vacationing there with her new beau.

• ‘Jaws’ (1975)

  Tourist hotspot Amity Island finds its visitors plagued by shark attacks, leading a shark hunter, oceanographer and police chief to team up and search for the great white shark responsible.

• ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ (1983)

  The Griswold family embarks on a cross-country road trip to Walley World and get caught in several misadventures before making to their destination (only to find that it's closed). Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo and Imogene Coca star in the 1983 comedy.

• ‘Open Water’ (2003)

  Based on a true story, the 2003 horror film centers on a couple that gets left behind on a group scuba diving tour and find themselves stranded in shark-infested waters.

• ‘The Beach’ (2000)

  Starring a young Leonardo DiCaprio, the Danny Boyle-directed film follows a curious college student who faces grave danger on a forbidden island while vacationing in Thailand.

• ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ (2012)

  Five friends travel to a remote cabin in the woods, where they encounter a zombie family, wild monsters and other unexpected guests. Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchinson, Frank Kranz and Jesse Williams co-star in Drew Goddard's directorial debut.

• ‘The Great Outdoors’ (1988)

  Starring John Candy and Dan Aykroyd, the 1988 comedy centers on a man's family vacation that becomes ruined when his in-laws pay a surprise visit.

• ‘The Impossible’ (2012)

  A family spending their Christmas holiday in Thailand suffers through the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The thriller co-stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor.

• ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ (1989)

  Two employees (played by Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman) plan to spend the weekend at their boss' beach house only to discover upon arrival that he has been killed. Things take a turn for the worst when they realize their boss' hitman may be targeting them next.

• ‘A Perfect Getaway’ (2009)

  The 2009 thriller follows three couples as they uncover the truth behind mysterious murders happening in Hawaii. A Perfect Getaway stars Chris Hemsworth, Steve Zahn, Milla Jovovich, Kiele Sanchez, Timothy Olyphant and Marley Shelton.

• ‘RV’ (2006)

  Businessman Bob Munro (played by Robin Williams) ditches work for quality time with his dysfunctional family and convinces his wife and kids to go on a road trip to the Rocky Mountains. The trip goes awry when they run into a series of mishaps and have strange encounters with another traveling family they meet at a rest stop.
