McMahon Faces Fresh Legal Demands, Assault Allegations
A bombshell article posted today by the WSJ details two separate legal demands sent to Vince McMahon by women who allege he sexually assaulted them. The first of these women is former WWE referee Rita Chatterton.
Chatterton is asking for $11.75 million in damages after she publicly accused Vince McMahon of raping her in the back of a limousine in 1992. Vince McMahon has long denied the allegations, but Chatterton's current lawyer has confirmed that multiple sources have corroborated Chatterton's account.
The second of these women is a former spa manager who worked at a California resort. In an email sent to McMahon's attorney, the woman's lawyer said that Vince McMahon assaulted his client in 2011. This incident has previously been unreported.
WWE has declined to comment on these allegations. The company is currently in the midst of trying to move past McMahon's four-decade-long tenure at the helm.
According to WSJ, McMahon has told several people that he is refusing to pay settlements to Ms. Chatterton and the former spa manager. WWE's auditor, Deloitte & Touche LLP, noted that the resolution of these claims, even if made confidentially, may have to be disclosed by WWE publicly.
