The world of professional wrestling is known for its intense competition and larger-than-life characters, and the WWE is no exception. WWE is a massive worldwide organization and for years the creative department was led by WWE's current Executive Chairman, Vince McMahon, who had a reputation for being a tough boss and a demanding leader. For wrestlers in the WWE, impressing McMahon was often the key to success.
WWE Is The Top Of The Wrestling Mountain
WWE is a company that is built on spectacle and entertainment, and the wrestlers who perform in its events are expected to deliver top-notch performances every time they step into the ring. This creates a highly competitive environment, with wrestlers constantly vying for the attention of fans and the approval of their boss. While Vince McMahon has retired from the role of the creative head, with Triple H replacing him, some fans still believe that McMahon has a lot of indirect influence going on the product even today.
For many wrestlers, the opportunity to perform in the WWE is a dream come true, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to impress McMahon and earn a spot on the roster. This can mean spending hours in the gym, perfecting their moves and working on their personas, or even sacrificing their own health and well-being to put on a great show. They try and grab the brass rings that Vince McMahon believes are essential for a star to grab. But over the years, the phrase "grabbing the brass rings" has been associated exclusively with Vince McMahon, and as it turns out, it does have a very special significance to the boss.

The Meaning Of Brass Rings To Vince McMahon
It will be an understatement to say that getting Vince McMahon to speak about anything publicly outside kayfabe is a rarity. There are just so many rumors and tales about him that have never gotten any confirmation or rejection from the man himself, but back in 2014, he did appear on "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's show, where he disclosed what it means to him when he wants the talent to grab the brass rings.
Vince explained, “You have, you know, this is a different group of guys and gals… it's millennials. You know, they’re not as ambitious, quite frankly, and they’re not trepidatious at all. I just don’t think they want to reach for that brass ring. The last person to really reach for that brass ring in all likelihood was John Cena. It’s a different point of view. If you reach for that brass ring, and you fall on your butt, no one wants to fail. And there’s this feeling, this insecurity that if you fail, you’re exposed. So I think that’s largely pretty much what it is. Because you give everybody the opportunities, you give everyone resources that you (Austin) never had." He added, "The things we do now from a television production standpoint, social media, oh my God social media is huge. It helps talent in so many different ways, it gives them the tools that you didn’t have, that other people didn’t have. It’s very important for talent to use. And they do use them, but not in a way you did.”
McMahon's sentiments about the lack of thirst to become a star among the current crop of WWE stars are shared by many fans even today. There seems to be something lost from the magic of WWE. However, wrestlers do work extremely hard as they perform at the top level daily, with insane schedules.

Have Things Changed Since Vince McMahon Left?
Ever since Vince McMahon retired from the role of the creative head, things have visibly changed. Triple H taking over has led to him pushing stars and booking matches in a way most fans know Vince McMahon would have never. While the reviews up to now are more positive than negative, the one thing that remains common is that the WWE Universe truly has the keys to any Superstar's success. WWE does have power too as they are the ones who control the narrative, but that's not enough.
While there may be some concern among WWE stars about McMahon's opinions of them, many wrestlers are still able to find success in the company by connecting with fans and building their own unique brands. Ultimately, it is the fans who decide which wrestlers become superstars, and those who are able to capture the attention and loyalty of the WWE Universe will continue to thrive in the industry.
