Jan Blachowicz stunned the world with his title win at UFC 253. While he is currently one of the top fighters today, this was not the case earlier. Back in 2017, he went through a rough career patch, and his UFC career almost came to an end because of several defeats. 

His girlfriend and now fiance, Dorota Jurkowska, was beside him through thick and thin. She is not only his partner, but also his manager. During Blachowicz’s rocky UFC career, Jurkowska was worried that he might get fired. Hence, he did everything she could to save his job.

She said, “I pushed them so hard to give Jan one more chance. I told them that Jan is a huge star in Poland, and I knew they wanted to hold an event in Poland. I told them, ‘He needs to be on this card!’ That was my last argument for him not to be fired.”

Jurkowska’s efforts paid off. He fought against Devin Clark and won through a rear-naked choke. This fight revived his failing UFC career. Ever since then, he has not looked back. After 2017, he has lost just one fight.

In an interview, Blachowicz gave credit to Jurkowska’s efforts and said, “She’s a big part of the success.”

Jurkowska is a Polish businesswoman and has a son with Blachowicz, who was born in December 2020. Interestingly, she is not new to the world of combat sports. She happens to be the sister of the former MMA fighter, Lukasz Jurkowski.

She has about 22.3k followers on Instagram and regularly posts Blachowicz’s UFC updates, family, and travel pictures. While Jurkowska and Blachowicz are not married, they are engaged.

After earning the light heavyweight belt, Blachowicz faced Adesanya and successfully defended the title at UFC 259. He will now fight against Glover Teixeira at UFC 267, which will take place on October 30. 

In his previous fights, Blachowicz was considered the underdog. However, the limelight is on the Polish fighter this time.
