Sarah Ferguson turned heads at her daughter Princess Eugenie's wedding last month in an all-emerald ensemble, but there was a hidden sentimental meaning behind her monochrome mother-of-the-bride look. Ferguson, famously nicknamed Fergie by the British press, subtly honored her own royal wedding to Prince Andrew with her colorful outfit.

The inspiration began with the vintage Manolo Blahnik clutch she wore to the ceremony, which was the same purse her mother wore to her wedding in 1986. "Mum had carried the handbag at my wedding to Prince Andrew and the admission tickets were still in it," Ferguson told The Daily Mail.

The tickets were green, Fergie explained, which is why she wore the hue to her own daughter's wedding. Fergie and Prince Andrew officially divorced in 1996, but they've remained on friendly terms after the separation.

Ferguson's long-sleeve wrap dress featured a silk collar, an asymmetrical drape cascading down one side, and a row of buttons down the back. The frock was by local Ascot designer Emma Louise, while her white-brim hat accented with a striped ribbon was by milliner Jess Collett. She wore nude crocodile pumps to match her box clutch.

Ferguson arrived with her and Prince Andrew's older daughter, Princess Beatrice, who also went monochrome in an indigo Ralph & Russo ensemble. However, the most outstanding look that day was Princess Eugenie's. The bride wore a bespoke Peter Pilotto wedding dress with a plunging back and no veil to show off her scar from scoliosis surgery.

Watching Eugenie "standing tall and very proud" in her low-back dress was the "proudest moment" for Ferguson. "I’d gone to all the fittings and sat there beaming with delight, and because there was no veil it was a very strong statement," she told the Daily Mail.
