WWE Creative Team Split Over Roman Reigns' Money In The Bank Finish
John Castro Roman Reigns was pinned for the first time in three and a half years at Money in the Bank. Covered for the three count by Jey Uso as The Tribal Chief and Solo Sikoa took the loss. A huge twist in the long Bloodline tale being told, and one that means Saturday's premium live event will be remembered for a very long time. However, not everyone involved in making that decision was convinced that was the right way to go.
Someone In Creative Disagreed
That's according to a report from WrestleVotes. The insider has claimed at least one high ranking creative team member in WWE didn't want the finish to The Bloodline Civil War to go down the way that it did. Their argument being that the first time Reigns should be pinned as champion is whenever he loses the title.

Whoever that creative team member was, they were either overruled or convinced that Jey pinning Reigns was the right way to go. It's easy to see it from both sides, hence why there was likely back and forth regarding what should happen right up until the night of the match. Reigns is naturally weakened by finally losing, but he is still Undisputed Champion, approaching three years as Universal Champion.
A Fresh Twist To A Three-Year-Old Story
On the flip side, going through with The Usos' win breathed even more new life into a storyline that has been running for Reigns' entire Universal Title run. Unheard of in WWE, at least during the modern era. Whether having The Tribal Chief lose was the right call will be determined by what comes next, and one match WWE reportedly has planned for SummerSlam may well explain why those who wanted Reigns to be pinned at Money in the Bank got their way.
There appear to be at least six matches locked in for the biggest event of the summer on August 5, and the one that may well headline the event is Reigns vs. Jey for the Undisputed Championship. Rolling it all the way back to 2020 when Jey was one of the first to try and end Reigns run as champion. An emotional feud back then, but one that has had an exponential amount of stakes added to it since.
